ProDentim pros and cons: complaints, side effects and who should skip it

What are ProDentim's pros and cons?

The pros: one tablet a day, it includes L. reuteri (the strain with the most gum trials), its label is on file in an NIH database, and it has a 60-day money-back guarantee. The cons: no studies on ProDentim itself, weak evidence for probiotics and gum problems, the dose of each strain is not listed, and its Trustpilot profile scores 1.9 out of 5, with many refund complaints.

ProDentim pros and cons at a glance

Pros

  • One tablet a day that dissolves in the mouth: an easy routine
  • Includes L. reuteri, the strain with the most gum trials behind it
  • Label on file in the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database
  • Non-GMO, gluten-free and stimulant-free, according to the maker
  • 60-day money-back guarantee, and opened bottles are accepted
  • 3 bonus e-books on the 6-bottle pack

Cons

  • No studies on ProDentim itself
  • Reviews of the research call the evidence for probiotics and gingivitis weak
  • The amount of each strain and the exact strains are not published
  • The sales page names inulin and malic acid, which are not on the 2023 label
  • Low Trustpilot score, with many complaints about refunds
  • You pay return shipping
  • No single-bottle option: the smallest order is 2 bottles plus shipping

Only on the official site: the 60-day guarantee, the bonus e-books and the multi-bottle discount.

The pros, explained

  • An easy routine. One soft tablet a day, ideally after brushing, that dissolves in your mouth.
  • The best-studied strain for gums. In a 2013 trial, 30 adults with periodontitis had a deep cleaning and then took L. reuteri lozenges or a placebo for 12 weeks; the probiotic group had more improvement in moderate and deep gum pockets. The study was small and partly funded by the lozenge maker.
  • A label you can check. The label is on file in the Dietary Supplement Label Database of the NIH (National Institutes of Health): a 20 mg blend with 3.5 billion CFU of three strains.
  • A clean list, per the maker. Non-GMO, gluten-free and no stimulants, according to the maker.
  • Room to try it. 60-day money-back guarantee, and opened bottles are accepted.

All the sources are listed in our full review.

The cons, explained

  • No studies on ProDentim. The research is on single strains, mostly in lozenges, often next to a dental cleaning.
  • Weak evidence for gum problems. A 2020 review of the research called the evidence for probiotics and gingivitis weak. The NCCIH, part of the NIH, says probiotics may be a helpful addition to gum disease treatment, not a replacement.
  • Hidden amounts. The label gives the total (3.5 billion CFU) but not how much of each strain, or which exact variety.
  • Label and sales page do not match. The sales page names inulin and malic acid, which are not on the 2023 label.
  • "FDA-approved facility". The maker says this, but the FDA does not approve manufacturing facilities or dietary supplements.
  • Refund complaints. Many low reviews on Trustpilot are about refunds (see below), and you pay the return shipping.
  • No single bottle. The smallest order is 2 bottles plus $9.99 shipping, so trying it costs at least $167.99.

ProDentim complaints: what we found

We looked for independent ProDentim customer reviews and complaints on October 17, 2026:

  • Trustpilot: the prodentim.com profile had a TrustScore of 1.9 out of 5 from 101 reviews, 81% of them 1-star and 11% 5-star. Only 3 were from the last 12 months. The company has not claimed the profile, and Trustpilot notes it has no history of asking for reviews, so the sample may lean negative.
  • What the low reviews say: refund requests that were delayed or refused, often over the 60-day window; support that was hard to reach by phone; no change in teeth or gums; some headaches, stomach upset or gas; and sales calls offering more products.
  • What the good reviews say: a few people report gums and teeth that feel stronger or more comfortable.
  • Better Business Bureau (BBB): on Oct 16, 2026 we found no ProDentim profile.

We do not publish the testimonials on the maker's site, or its "95,000 reviews" figure, because we cannot verify them.

Who should skip ProDentim or ask a doctor first

  • Anyone with bleeding gums, loose teeth, pain when chewing or a diagnosis of periodontitis: see a dentist first. The NIDCR lists these as signs of gum disease.
  • People with a weak immune system or a serious illness: the risk of infection from probiotics is greater, according to the NCCIH.
  • Women who are pregnant or nursing, anyone under 18, and anyone taking prescription medicines, as the label says.
  • People who get heartburn easily: the tablets contain peppermint.
  • Anyone who wants to know the exact dose of each strain: the label does not give it.
  • Anyone who expects it to replace brushing, floss or dental cleanings.
